Some days the tension shows up nowhere except in your hands. The fingers stay slightly curled, the forearms tight, as if they were still holding the keyboard, the steering wheel or the phone long after you put them down. You tell yourself it's nothing. And yet, as long as the hands stay clenched, the rest of the body understands that it is not allowed to unwind yet.
Ayurveda offers a very simple gesture for this: two minutes of self-massage on the hands and forearms.
Pour a small amount of warm oil — sesame or sweet almond — into one palm. Start with the left palm, using your right thumb, in slow circles, from the centre outwards. Then each finger, one by one, from the base to the tip, without pulling. Finally work your way up the forearm, from the wrist towards the elbow. Switch sides. That's all.
This is not a treatment, it's a signal: you are telling your body that the day is over, and it believes you more readily when the message comes through touch rather than through thought.
At Om Veda Home, the same principle unfolds on another scale: a full ayurvedic massage, in a stretch of time kept entirely for you, where you have nothing to hold on to.
If your hands often feel tight at the end of the day, give yourself that pause. Book a session whenever the moment feels right.
