A longer breath to open your shoulders

The September restart doesn't ask for permission. Within a few days the calendar fills up again faster than the body can follow: appointments come back, lists grow longer, and weeks begin already full. You keep going, of course. But something, high in your back, no longer comes back down.

The shoulders are often the first to absorb that acceleration. They rise, quietly, and they stay there — not because of one particular day, but from adding all of them up.

You can give them sixty seconds, with no equipment and without leaving the room. Sit down, feet flat on the floor. Breathe in without forcing, then lengthen the out-breath, a little longer than usual, and let your shoulders drop while it flows out. Three times, no more. By the third, the out-breath often does the work on its own: the upper back opens by a millimetre, the jaw loosens, and the day makes a little more room around you.

This isn't a performance, and there's nothing to succeed at. It's simply a way of reminding the body that it's allowed to let go before evening comes.

At Om Veda Home, a guided meditation session extends that same breathing, far beyond a minute: the time is kept, the space is held, and you no longer have to think about what comes next.

If your September is starting faster than you are, give yourself that time. Book a session whenever the moment feels right.
